Unicredit has launched a repurchase operation of bonds issued up to a maximum amount of 3 billion euros of nominal value. The institute communicated this in a note, explaining that the offer, which starts today and will end on February 3, concerns debt securities for a total of 4,3 billion euros and 1,1 billion pounds.
The operation aims at optimize the capital structure and may have a positive impact on Core Tier 1, as well as reduce the amount of interest payable in future years on securities purchased. Furthermore, the transaction offers investors the possibility of obtaining a return on their investments at a favorable price compared to secondary market prices.
An hour and a half after the start of trading, the Unicredit share gained more than two points in Piazza Affari.
