Unicredit buys Skok Kopernik and sells Dab Bank

The Italian institute bought the Polish regional bank Skok Kopernik in an operation worth around 30 million euros – The equity investment in Dab Bank was sold: the operation had a positive impact of 180 million on net profit.

Unicredit makes purchases in Poland and sells Dab Bank. The Italian bank, through its subsidiary Bank Pekao, has concluded the acquisition of the regional bank Skok Kopernik, active in the Silesia region with over forty branches and total assets of 100 million euro. The CEO Federico Ghizzoni made the announcement at the end of the board meeting.

In total, the gross investment to complete the operation would be around 30 million euros, largely covered by local guarantee funds. Skok Kopernik, explained Ghizzoni, was in a difficult financial situation and the acquisition geographically covers an area hitherto undiscovered by the group.

As anticipated, UniCredit and Bnp Paribas also finalized the sale of 81,4% of the capital of Dab Bank Ag. The agreed price was 4,78 euros per share, i.e. a valuation of the share of 354 million (e of 435 million for 100% of Dab). The positive impact of the transaction was around 180 million on consolidated net income and resulted in an increase in the Common Equity Tier 1 (Basel 3 when fully operational) of around 8 bps for the Italian institute.
