Unicredit: 2.000 hires, 3.900 voluntary exits

Signed the agreement between Unicredit and the unions. On the basis of the provisions, the bank will hire 2.000 people against 3.900 redundancies.

The news was communicated by Fabi, the autonomous banking union. The agreement, signed during the night, arrives two days before the start of thecapital increase of 13 billion, which will start on Monday 6 February.

The operation is part of the business plan which aims to streamline the group, closing 800 branches to relaunch profitability.

After a long back and forth between the bank in Piazza Gae Aulenti, a meeting point was found on redundancies thanks to the introduction of the criteria of voluntary exits and the guarantee of turnover.

Going into detail, the pact establishes 1.300 new hires, 600 stabilizations of workers already hired under apprenticeship contracts and a turnover of 1 to 3 in hiring in the event of death, dismissal or resignation. In total, there will be over 2 new entries.

The other side of the coin, however, speaks of 3.900 voluntary and incentivized exits that will have to be carried out over the next seven years, within the first half of 2024. Once the plan is completed, the workers who leave the company will be almost 1.000. Previously Unicredit had already foreseen 6 thousand outgoings.

Based on what Fabi explained, the agreement also establishes the "rebalancing of the company contribution on the group healthcare home, with equal treatment for all workers, a company bonus of 800 euros if you choose the welfare formula and 600 if you choose the cash one, definition of a new agreement on job classifications, employment guarantee that in the three-year period the group will not proceed with the declaration of new redundancies. Finally, a bilateral commission on commercial pressure has been set up with the identification of a company contact person who will intervene in a concrete manner, upon notification, in the event of behavior harmful to the professionalism and dignity of workers".

"It is an agreement, reached after very tough negotiations, which looks to the future and values ​​workers in a perspective of clear discontinuity with the past - comment Mauro Morelli, Fabi National Secretary and Stefano Cefaloni, Fabi Coordinator Unicredit, the banking union - Today we can say that the company and its employees are betting together on the relaunch of the group. In fact, the company's initial approach which aimed solely at a drastic reduction in employment was rejected. We have obtained the guarantee that the employment levels established in the plan will be maintained for at least the next three years, over 2000 new hires, a commitment due on commercial pressures to protect employees. After six years, career paths have also been unlocked with a new framework agreement.
