A ministry for Made in Italy but jealousy explodes

Aepi's proposal to establish a ministry for our most prestigious productions has been signed by all parties with the exception of M5S which fears a downsizing for Di Maio. Yet it would be of undoubted use

A ministry for Made in Italy but jealousy explodes

Aepi, a new confederation that brings together 31 small business associations and 13 professionals, has advanced a proposal for the establishment of a ministry for Made in Italy which was signed and presented to Parliament by MPs from almost all parties.

The only group that has not signed is that of the 5 Stars probably because Di Maio, who has just obtained the transfer of the Foreign Trade Department from the Ministry of Development to that of Foreign Affairs, fears losing skills which, although unable to exercise, he considers important for expanding his sphere of influence .

As he illustrated during a press conference the president of Aepi Mino Dinoi, it's not about creating a new ministry to increase the number of seats, but about bring together the competences currently scattered among various ministries and the Regions to organize more effectively both the defense of our producers and the promotion of our goods on international markets. Also from a financial point of view it is not a matter of increasing expenses but of better coordinating the resources already allocated today

Italy is undoubtedly a country that enjoys high entrepreneurial creativity, excellence in the artisan field, in short, in the complex of quality productions that the world envies us and often copies us by passing off as Made in Italy products that are manufactured who knows Where.

We must therefore create a system – concluded Dinoi – in order to make the best use of public sector initiatives and above all to offer a single interlocutor to small businesses which, unlike large ones, have greater difficulty in projecting themselves onto international markets. Furthermore, having a ministry at a central level, equipped with a portfolio, capable of giving strategic directions, it will be easier to coordinate the activities carried out by the regions which are numerous but which, isolated, have a limited impact on the markets.

The bill was presented by numerous deputies from all parliamentary groups. The first signatories are the Honorable Gelmini and Fiorini of Forza Italia, the Hon. Lots of the PD, the Hon. Hundred of the League, the Hon. Ferri of Italia Viva, the Hon. Rampelli of the Brothers of Italy, and the Hon. Colucci of the Mixed Group.

Now the bill should be examined by the Productive Activities Commission and then landed in the Chamber in the Chamber. While a similar proposal will also be presented to the Senate in order to speed up the decision-making process.

Sure this is a significant change in the relations between ministries and it is clear that there will be obstacles and jealousies on the part of all those bureaucratic levels that fear losing competences and power. But it is quite evident that a greater efficiency of our public system responsible for defending and promoting our products on international markets could allow our small businesses (few of which manage to have an international projection) to increase their presence abroad and therefore bring significant benefits to our economy as a whole. The progress of this proposal would be faster if the Government made it its own, but it will be necessary to see if it will be possible to overcome the disagreements that characterize the current majority on every issue which he holds in Count 2.
