More sanctions, duties and an unlimited arsenal for Kiev: the American president's plan to force Moscow into negotiations on the war in Ukraine

Ukraine, Trump warns Putin: "Stop this ridiculous war or sanctions will come". Threatens duties on the EU

Donald Trump wastes no time. A few days after his inauguration at the White House, the American president raises the stakes and launches a ultimatum to Vladimir Putin: “Settle now and end this ridiculous war. It can only get worse.” Otherwise, Washington is ready to hit Russia with drastic economic measures: new cups, duties e fines on everything that is exported from Russia to the United States. And that's not all: sources close to the American administration reveal that Trump is also ready to intensify thesending weapons to Ukraine, instead of reducing it, if Moscow refused to negotiate.

The new US president does not even spare theEurope, sending a message without too many turns of phrase: either the trade imbalances are corrected, or the duties. “They treated us badly. If you don’t do this, you won’t get justice,” he declared with his usual emphasis, warning Brussels that the United States would no longer stand by and watch.

Trump to Putin: “Now is the time to make a deal”

“I am not trying to hurt Russia,” Trump wrote on Social Truth. “I like the Russian people and have always had a good relationship with President Putin. We must not forget that Moscow helped us during World War II.” But his words become harsh when he speaks of the conflict: “This war would never have started if I were president. Now is the time to make a deal. We can do it the easy way or the hard way, but the easy way is always better.”

The call is clear: to end a conflict that has devastated Ukraine and destabilized the global economy. And Trump, true to his direct style, suggests that the time for hesitation is over.

A Plan to Force Putin to Negotiate

Sources close to the administration reveal that Trump already has a plan in mind strategy to convince Putin. The idea is to freeze the current front without formally recognizing the territories occupied by Russia. From there, a negotiation would begin to find a long-term balance.

Among the proposals there would be a possible exchange of territories: if Moscow wanted to keep strategic areas like Kursk, it would have to return Zaporizhia, with its nuclear power plant, currently unused and dangerous because it is mined.

OnUkraine's membership of NATO, Trump will adopt an ambivalent diplomatic position: no promises to Kiev, but no concessions to Moscow either. Postponing Ukraine's entry into the Alliance by 20 years would be a symbolic victory for Putin, but Trump does not intend to concede it openly.

Zelensky: “We need the US for peace”

From Davos, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky He warned that a peacekeeping mission would be crucial to maintaining the ceasefire, but would have to include U.S. forces. “The European allies do not have enough troops to be a credible deterrent against Moscow,” he said, adding that at least 200 troops would be needed on the ground.

If Putin were to push NATO troops back to his borders, one option could be a European mission without the Alliance's stamp.hypothesis UN It's still far away, but it could become the only acceptable solution for everyone.

More Weapons to Kiev: The Threat Putin Fears

If Putin were to ignore his appeal, Trump would be ready to completely reverse the diplomatic approach, increasing the military support to Ukraine. Administration sources speak of a plan reminiscent of the Cash & Carry of World War II: the United States will finance Kiev to purchase American weapons directly, without direct transfers of money.

The funds would remain in the US, transferred directly to the manufacturing companies, minimizing the risks of corruption in Ukraine, a crucial point to reassure the conservative base. "There will be no limits on what Kiev can buy or how it will use the weapons," administration sources explain.

The goal is to put Putin with your back to the wall: accept negotiations or face a more armed Ukraine and unprecedented economic pressure. Trump aims to close the conflict, but he does so by playing a high-risk game. The ball is now in the Russian president's court.
