Uil Bancari, Masi: "I will remain in office until the new contract is signed"

Letter from the Secretary General of Uilca, Massimo Masi, who replies to internal dissidents reiterating that he intends to reapply and remain at the head of the category until the renewal of the national contract which is expected to be "difficult and complicated"

Uil Bancari, Masi: "I will remain in office until the new contract is signed"

“I read with amazement thearticle published on 16 April us on your site. Together with our lawyer, I am evaluating whether there are grounds for taking legal action against the people who signed the open letter you published, so in order to avoid further legal aftermath, I ask you to publish these specifications with the same prominence". Thus writes the Secretary General of the Uil banks (Uilca), Massimo Masi, in response to the letter of the three dissidents, previously published by FIRSTonline, in which they were asked not to reapply for the next national congress of the category.

Masi points out:

“First: the open letter contains so many inaccuracies, mistakes and stretches that, in normal times, it wouldn't even deserve a reply. Uilca members are certified for the credit sector by ABI e Federcasse, for those insurance from ANIA, for tax collectors by the Revenue Agency - collection, for exodates from INPS and for those of the Authorities by their respective agencies. Despite the decline in the number of employees in the banking sector (minus 30.000), Uilca has never had as many members as it does at the moment and such a high level of representation.

Second: as Uilca General Secretary (not National) I reassure everyone! The Uil and Uilca statutes allow my re-nomination both for age, status and mandates. My re-nomination was voted unanimously (including one of the signatories of the open letter) by the last National Council. The resolution specifies that I will remain in office only until the conclusion of the renewal of the National Credit Contract, which is expected to be difficult and complicated. After that I will leave office, a will already expressed during the National Executive meeting on 27 February last, in which I identified my possible successors.

Third: It is further false news to state that I have been retired for over 3 years. As can be seen from my tax return published on the website www.uilca.it (the only general secretary of the credit category that publishes it) I have been retired since July 2016. Retired (according to the early procedure and not due to old age) following an agreement union reached with my former bank (UniCredit). I retired, unlike some national secretaries of other union organizations!!!!! This early exit (naturally set for July 2018) costs me 2% less pension payments for life. I retired with the rank of Deputy Head of Office (penultimate rank in the clerical sector) obtained in the field (I was one of the youngest Head of Departments in my Bank), unlike one of the signatories of the open letter, who has the rank of management framework. Level obtained mainly through that "agreement tool" in use years ago in BPM and which I always fought from the moment of my appointment as Secretary General until his disappearance. In addition, the congress process”.

“In the Uilca Lombardia and Milano congress that took place recently (the three signatories of the letter are from Lombardy) their motion – continues Masi – did not obtain any votes in favour. The same thing is being repeated in all the Uilca Regional Congresses (we are already over half). This motion was so "appreciated" that none of the signatories became members of the Uilca Lombardia bodies. Finally, I would like to point out that I don't need to go back to the fields and to the factory since I come from those places. Since I was a teenager I have been orphaned of a father and, in order to maintain my studies and my family, in the summer I have always worked in the fields and in the sugar refineries”.
