The EU and Italy are negotiating possible measures to support ours banks. This is stated by the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis during an interview with Bloomberg. "We are monitoring the situation closely and are in close contact with the Italian authorities regarding possible steps."

"There are various possible methods of action - continued the vice-president of the Commission - which are still the subject of discussion and for this reason I cannot add details at this moment".

In this way Dombrovskis somehow confirms the possibilities feared in the morning, according to which after the Brexit the Italian Government he would be thinking of asking the EU to apply the extraordinary rules envisaged by the treaties, to obtain a derogation from the bans on aid to banks.
