Europe is ready to tighten a screw on controls at the external borders of Schengen. The decision was taken by the interior and justice ministers of the EU member countries during an extraordinary meeting held in Brussels following the attacks in Paris.
Ministers asked the European Commission to present a targeted review of theArticle 7.2 of the Schengen Code to make controls at the external borders systematic also for EU citizens: “The member states – reads the document released at the end of the meeting – undertake to immediately implement the necessary systematic and coordinated controls at the external borders, including individuals who enjoy the right to freedom of movement".
