Ukraine, Poroshenko: "Russia has invaded our territory"

“Russia has invaded Ukrainian territory.” The alarm was raised by the Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko, closely followed by the National Security and Defense Council of Kiev, according to which "two columns of armed vehicles of the Russian Federation have taken control of Novoazovsk", a town located on the border with the Russia. Poroshenko and Prime Minister Iatseniuk have already called for an immediate meeting of the UN Security Council and the EU Council.

The first voices are already coming from the EU, those of the spokeswoman for the High Representative Catherine Ashton, who reiterated the invitation to Russia to "put an end to all types of hostilities including the flows of weapons, men and equipment" and to find a " political solution” which ensures the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Furthermore, Ukrainian Prime Minister Iatseniuk has proposed further sanctions against Russia: "To contain Russian aggression, it is necessary to consider the introduction of sanctions to freeze Russian funds and stop all banking transactions of the Russian Federation in the countries of the EU, the G7 and in the USA”.
