“Country on the verge of civil war”. In the evening, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, to whom he explained that Ukraine is "on the brink of civil war" due to the "brutal escalation of the conflict", attributed to the blitz Kiev military in the Russian-speaking East. The Russian president is therefore attempting the diplomatic route, also asking to the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, a clear condemnation of Kiev's actions.

For its part, however, Ukraine is not there, and its forceful action, which has led to clashes and deaths, receives the support of the United States: "The use of force is not the preferable option, but the Kiev government had to respond." This was stated by White House spokesman Jay Carney, commenting on the operation launched by Ukrainian forces in the east of the country, with deaths and injuries in particular in Kramatosk. The White House then praises what it calls the "moderation" of the Kiev government.
