Ubs returns to profit: 2,5 billion in 2013

In the fourth quarter alone, the Swiss bank reported profits of 917 million francs, up 59% year on year. UBS will propose a dividend on its 2013 financial statements of 25 cents per share, up from 15 cents in 2012.

A large contribution to the result comes from wealth management, which raised net new capital of 5,8 billion francs, more than double compared to the corresponding period of 2012.

The investment banking division of UBS also returned to profit in the fourth quarter, at 297 million francs against the loss of 243 million in the same period of 2012.

The bank's prospects, according to analysts, are positive. Meanwhile, UBS shares are trading on the Zurich Stock Exchange, gaining more than 5% by mid-morning.
