Ubi launches Trust in Life: it's the first for "After us"

The initiative launched by Ubi Banca with Anffas Onlus and the CGM cooperative group is aimed at a potential pool of 127 families, following the launch of law 112 on "during and after us" for people with disabilities. It rests on two pillars: on the one hand the Life Project, on the other the Trust which administers the resources made available by the bank by integrating them with the family assets. Call for 5 projects to be selected

Trust in Life is the first trust of an Italian credit institution in implementation of the law on the After Us. The offer is inserted in the context of the partnership project "During and after us" in which a UBI Banca stand side by side Anffas Onlus e CGM Cooperative Group

THE CONTEXT AND THE PARTNERSHIP

The law of 22 June 2016, n. 112, which introduces "Provisions on assistance for people with severe disabilities without family support" has the objective of promoting the well-being and full social inclusion and autonomy of people with "severe disabilities" not caused by aging
The provision also known as "During and After Us" as it has brought to the center of the debate and to the attention of operators and families both the period in which people with disabilities are still supported by their parents, and the one in which this support will be replaced by structures that will reproduce the living and relational conditions of the family home.

According to a study conducted by AICCON (Italian Association for the promotion of the Culture of Cooperation and Nonprofit) they are in fact 127.000 people potentially interested and recipients of the law, whose needs range from economic-financial support to social-health support.

In this context, the project objective shared between the partners is to build cohesive and efficient intervention models aimed at people with severe disabilities and their families to encourage the full realization of autonomous and inclusive life paths. The approach used is oriented towards circular subsidiarity, open to co-planning and collaboration with the various social realities present in the area.

THE TWO PILLARS OF THE PROJECT

Trust in Life is based on two pillars: on the one hand the Life Project, program to support people with disabilities implemented by Anffas and CGM at the end of a co-planning process between beneficiaries, families and Third Sector operators; on the other the multi-beneficiary trust set up by the UBI Trustee to manage economic-financial and real estate resources by integrating them with family/personal assets, thanks to the support of UBI Community.

UBI Banca, Anffas and CGM will therefore activate support for the social inclusion of disabled people, each to their own specifics, their respective territorial networks and responsibilities, and will collaborate in disseminating knowledge of the main aspects and tools connected to the law on the "During and After noi”, through events in the main Italian squares that will involve the main subjects interested in the topic.

ONE CALL FOR 5 PROJECTS

In support of Trust in Life for the "Durante e Dopo di Noi" project, a tender is launched for a small number of candidate initiatives by Third Sector entities belonging to the Anffas and GCM network, in accordance with law 112/2016. The five selected projects will be supported by UBI Banca which will give up a portion of its revenues relating to the new Hybrid credit card.

"In a social and economic context characterized by the progressive increase in inequalities in the health and social-health fields, also due to the difficulties of the public sector in meeting the growing needs, it becomes important to move from the welfare state to a sustainable community welfare system thanks to to the collaboration of a plurality of actors from the public, non-profit and private companies sectors”, declared Letizia Moratti, Chairman of the Management Board of UBI Banca. “The project presented today is highly effective as it combines the technical skills of an important financial institution such as UBI, with the experience and capacity for direct dialogue with potential beneficiaries brought about by important associations such as Anffas and CGM”.

Roberto Speziale, national president of Anffas Onlus, evaluates law 112 positively "not because it solves tout court all the complex problems related to during and after us, but rather because it traces "new paths" that open up for all people with disabilities the possibility to plan one's own life, starting from the right to choose where to live and who to live with. Paths that are both the return to a life perspective not tied to a special structure but also the start towards a future of new existential perspectives for every adult with a disability”. "Trust in Life is in line with the development that welfare must have in the immediate future in Italy" adds Stefano Granata, President of CGM. "The "after us" legislation offers this extraordinary opportunity by responding to a need of many families".
