The investigations by the Bergamo Public Prosecutor's Office into the governance mechanisms of Ubi Banca, 'born from the complaint of a Ubi shareholder who had frustrated designs on the bank', have lasted 'for more than three years and for these long three years this investigation has hurt painfully besides me, a group of respectable people who are directors of UBI, which is one of the best and healthiest banks in the country'.
This was stated by Giovanni Bazoli, president emeritus of Intesa Sanpaolo and former supervisory adviser of Ubi Banca, on the sidelines of an event at the University of Bologna. Bazoli talks about 'outrages and many gross falsehoods' that have been promulgated in recent years by some tabloid newspapers' and 'finally we could explain all the defenses to demonstrate the absolute groundlessness of the accusations before a third judge to whom some observations will also be expressed on some of the ways in which this investigation was conducted
