Uber saves itself again: Court says No to the stop of the service from April 17th

Uber saves itself again. The Court of Rome accepted the request for suspension of the ordinance which required the interruption of Uber mobility services starting from 17 April. The news is announced by the American company itself which, through a note, announces that, for the moment, the service will continue to work: "We are very happy to be able to communicate to all Uber drivers and users in Italy that they will be able to continue to use the application until the Court decides on our complaint”.

The cars driven by professional drivers (NCC), a thousand of whom work with Uber, can be booked with the app until the final ruling by the Court.

"We want to move forward for these people and for all consumers who are only asking for more choice" - continues the company - "We remain optimistic, we want to move forward and fight for these people and for all consumers who are only asking for more choice" .

Uber is awaiting the outcome of the appeal, presented following the order of the Civil Court of Rome which had requested the suspension of Uber's mobility services for unfair competition against the taxi sector.

In fact, according to the company, the ordinance would go in the opposite direction to the rules established at European level regarding the opening of the transport market, also going against the provisions of the Milleproroghe "which reaffirmed the non-effectiveness of the return to the remittance for the NCC ” unleashing the fury, strikes and protests, in some cases violent, by taxi drivers.

Then a warning: "If nothing changes - concludes Uber - in these hours at the end of Sunday 16 April we will find ourselves forced to suspend operations in Italy, pending new developments on the legal front".
