Twitter takes refuge against Elon Musk and the board launches poison pills to block the way to the takeover bid

The 43 billion dollar takeover bid launched by Elon Musk to conquer Twitter is already uphill. And quite a lot. the Twitter board is raising the barricades to prevent the arrival of the volcanic billionaire and hastily votes for the so-called poison pill, the poisoned pills as they are called in the jargon standards and the operations that must make the takeover of a company difficult or even impossible. But even Wall Street doubts the validity of the offer because it is not sure that Musk, although very rich, really has all the necessary liquidity to conquer and relaunch Twitter. “Do I have the money to acquire Twitter? Well, I have sufficient assets and I can do it” replies Musk to those who ask him about his availability for Twitter but it is one thing to talk about assets and another thing to have the necessary liquidity. According to Forbes magazine Musk has a personal fortune of 260 billion dollars but mainly represented by Tesla and SpaceX shares which, if sold to raise cash, would immediately depreciate, as "la Repubblica" noted this morning.

Opa Musk on Twitter. The Saudi emir has already rejected her: "she is too short"

Be that as it may, the Twitter board does not look favorably on Musk's takeover bid and is preparing to block his way not only because he fears for his seats but because he thinks that the arrival of a cumbersome character like Musk could upset the platform. The Twitter board also relies on the numbers and considers the offer of $54,20 a share insufficient for a stock that reached $77 a share just a year ago. One of the partners, the Saudi Emir Alwaleed bin Talal, has already rejected Musk's takeover bid with words that leave no doubt: "I don't think it comes close to the intrinsic value of Twitter, given the growth prospects".

Will Musk give up or carry on? “I have a plan B”

Will Musk withdraw or will he raise his offer? It is difficult to predict how the battle will develop in the coming days but for the Tesla billionaire there is always the problem of finding liquidity to strengthen his offer for Twitter. That's why the Twitter board wasted no time and has already voted for the so-called poison pills to resist the takeover. But Musk doesn't give up: "I have a plan B” he replied to those who asked him how he intended to deal with the difficulties of the takeover of Twitter. But only he knows what plan B really is.
