The Italian Ambassador to Turkey, Gianpaolo Scarante, had a meeting today with Italian entrepreneurs active in Turkey at the Palazzo di Venezia in Istanbul.
Representatives of Italian institutions in the country also took part in the appointment, including the Commercial Office and the Financial Attaché of the Embassy and the ICE Office in Istanbul. Also present were the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Istanbul and the representative of SACE.
During the meeting it was possible to draw up a mid-year balance sheet on the activity of the Italian business community in the country and on the bilateral economic-commercial relations, which remain excellent, with Italy, which in the first four months of 2013 was the country's fifth trading partner with an exchange of over 6 billion dollars and with 1024 companies with Italian capital currently operating in Turkey.
At the same time, future development prospects were analysed, which present wide margins for further development. The discussion then focused on the situation currently affecting the country and the representatives of the Italian business world in Turkey expressed themselves in overall positive terms on the short-term prospects for the recovery of the economic situation and on a more far-reaching of bilateral economic and trade relations. At the end of the meeting it was agreed to meet again in the same format after the summer.
Today's event is part of the series of periodic meetings that the Italian Embassy organizes with the Italian business community in the country, aimed at increasingly strengthening ties with the Italian institutions in Turkey and at sharing experiences, difficulties and opportunities encountered by Italian operators in this extraordinary market, in which our entrepreneurship has always been present with stories of brilliant success.
