Trump-Putin: thaw in view of the G20

Signs of thaw between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. For the first time since the US raid against the Assad regime, the presidents of the United States and Russia are talking on the phone to take stock of Syria and North Korea. And they are laying the foundations for the first face-to-face that could take place in Hamburg on the occasion of the G20 on 7 and 8 July, as reported by the Kremlin.

"It was a very good conversation", explains the White House, despite the invitation extended by the Russian president to the tycoon: to show moderation in the North Korean crisis, which risks becoming a real powder keg.

On North Korea in the last few hours we have witnessed a half-reverse of the American President: another of those leaps to which Trump is beginning to get used to America and the world. But this time it is truly sensational to learn that the Commander in Chief would be "honored" to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, should the "right circumstances" occur.

Meanwhile, on the very day of the Trump-Putin talks, Hillary Clinton also reappears, relaunching her accusations in Moscow speaking of interference in the American electoral campaign. Interference ordered directly by the Kremlin to hit it and favor Trump.

Heavy words at a time when - after the tensions of recent weeks - the idyll between the leaders of Moscow and Washington seems likely to explode again, with investigations still underway both by the FBI and the US Congress on possible links between the campaign of the tycoon and Russia. Hillary also issued a warning on North Korea: the US cannot act alone in the crisis, but a regional effort is needed that also involves China.
