Trump, the most unpopular US president in history

Maybe it's not what he would have wanted, but Donald Trump can boast a record. He is the most unpopular president of the United States ever in the world. Pew research conducted in 37 countries (excluding the United States) on a sample of 40 people revealed that only 22% say they trust American leadership. Only 4% are uncertain, while 74% do not trust the new tenant of the White House at all.

The most serious setback for The Donald, however, is the comparison with Barack Obama, who in the last months of his presidency garnered 64% approval and 23% distrust. Of the various countries surveyed, Trump beats his predecessor only in Russia and Israel.

In short, support for the American presidency has collapsed to historic lows among the allies, especially among the European ones. And for the first time in the history of Pew studies, a majority of respondents in Canada believe that the United States is not a power aimed at the good of the world.

A world that practically rejects all the most striking choices announced so far by the US president: from the wall on the border with Mexico to the abandonment of the Paris climate agreements, passing through the anti-Muslim ban.

The latter, however, will enter into force on June 29 and will last 90 days, involving the citizens of six countries (Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen), has been practically dismantled by the American Supreme Court. The judges have excluded from the "Muslim ban" foreigners who have "a relationship with a person or entity in the US". The pronouncement of the highest judicial body therefore leaves more than a few margins of interpretation to the border authorities, but it seems clear that all those who have an occupation, a relative or who study in America will be able to return.
