Trump in Davos: "America first does not mean America alone"

“As President of the United States I will always put America first, as other leaders put their country first. I believe in the United States and I will always say 'America first'. But it doesn't mean 'America alone'. When the United States grows, the whole world grows”. This was stated by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, in his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

“America is once again seeing strong growth, 7 trillion dollars have been created on the stock market since my election – he added – America is open to business and has once again become competitive. Come to America: there has never been a better time to hire, invest, build and grow in the United States”.

However, Trump specified that "the United States will no longer tolerate unfair practices in international trade". And again, with clear reference to China: “We support free trade, but it must be fair and reciprocal. In the end, unfair trade harms everyone. We will no longer turn a blind eye to unjust economic practices, including massive theft of intellectual property, industrial subsidies, and pervasive state subsidies. These and other predatory behaviors are distorting global markets and hurting businesses and workers not just in the US, but around the world.

However, “the United States is ready to negotiate mutually beneficial bilateral trade agreements with all countries. This includes the countries of the Tpp 11, which is very important”, Trump explained again, referring to the Transpacific agreement from which the US left a year ago and which Canada joined in recent days. "We already have agreements with many of these countries and may consider negotiating with the others, both individually and perhaps as a group, if it will be in our interests."

With the tax reform "we have realized a dream that a lot of people had for years", said the US President, adding that the average income of families will increase by 4 dollars. As for immigration, "from now on those who enter will be selected on the basis of their ability to contribute to the economic well-being of the United States", concluded Trump.
