Scams, Consob obscures 22 abusive financial services sites

Anti-fraud crackdown by Consob. Indeed, the authority announced that it had ordered the blacking out of 22 websites that to date have illegally offered financial services.

Consob has made use of the new rules established from the “Growth decree” which give it the power to order internet connectivity service providers to block access from Italy to websites through which financial services are offered without due authorization by virtue of the update of the rules on the supervision of law enforcement financial abuse on the web.

It is not the first time that the Authority has intervened for the purpose of protect users from possible scamstaking advantage of the new legislation. Last July, Consob shut down 4 sites that illegally practiced online trading.

The Authority informs that “site blackout activities are underway by internet connectivity providers, which operate on the Italian market. For technical reasons, the actual blackout may take a few days"
