One of the most authoritative world wine rankings comes from Hong Kong, the "Top 100 Wines of 2020" drawn up by James Suckling, one of the greatest wine experts in the world, journalist, former collaborator of Wine Spectator, founder of the European office, of the prestigious magazine, which has allowed him, over the years, to get to know and become passionate about Bordeaux and Italian wines, author of numerous reference publications in the world of international wine and of documentaries on wine.
From this year's ranking, drawn up by the great American critic after having personally analyzed as many as 18.000 wines, Brunello di Montalcino emerges triumphant, managing to place as many as 11 bottles.
In particular, in third place in the world rankings is Livio Sassetti, whose family has been producing wine for three generations, one of the founding fathers of the Consortium, with Brunello di Montalcino 2016. Another brilliant result is the seventh place conquered by Tassi Brunello di Montalcino Franci Riserva 2015. The third Italian wine to appear at the top of the ranking is the Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Di Pianrosso Santa Caterina D'oro Riserva 2015, which ranks fourteenth in the world.
If Brunello di Montalcino displaces everyone in the prestigious ranking, Italy conquers a total of 20 positions, In fact, in 21st place we find Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva 2016, followed by Roberto Voerzio Barolo Cerequio 2016
The first place assigned by James Suckling to the Argentine wine Chacra Pinot Noir Patagonia Treinta Y Dos 2018 is nonetheless an indirect recognition of our wine culture. The company was in fact founded by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, an important name in the history Italian winemaker, grandfather Mario fifty years ago was the architect of the Sassicaia miracle which marked an important chapter in the history of Made in Italy wine recognized throughout the world.
