EU Court, green light for Microsoft-Skype merger: appeal rejected

The last obstacle on the road to the maxi-merger between Microsoft and Skype also falls. The General Court of the European Union today gave its substantially green light to the operation, deeming it compatible with the rules of the single European market.

"The merger does not restrict competition - reads a note - neither in the video calls market for the general public nor in that of communications for businesses".

The Court therefore rejected in its entirety the appeal against the transaction filed by Cisco and Messagenet.
