Tria: "Irpef cut is underway"

Il personal income tax cut will start as early as 2019. This was announced by the Minister of the Treasury, Giovanni Tria, explaining that “spaces have to be found very gradually for a start of a first unification and a first reduction of the rates on family income". The minister, a guest of the Confartigianato Summer School, said he was "very favorable" to the measure, but explained that it will be necessary to keep "budget compatibility" under control, acting gradually.

“Today there is a complexity of tax rates – continued Tria – and a mass of tax expenditures. You never know who wins and who loses. The flat fax must be financed with tax expenditures, but it is a complex process and takes time”.

From the same stage, the Deputy Minister of the Economy, Massimo Garavaglia, explained some of the tax reform hypotheses that the League is considering: "We plan to introduce a dual IRES tax at 24% for what you get and a structural 15% on what remains within the company. The idea is to guarantee an incentive to hire staff and to capitalise”.

Furthermore, added Garavaglia, "we want to expand the minimum regime, but avoiding the crushing effect and that companies do not grow and remain below 65.000 euros". The Northern League proposal provides for the expansion of the audience of recipients of the flat-rate regime of 15%, bringing the revenue threshold for accessing it from 30 to at least 65 euros. The rate would instead be 20% for the portion of revenues between 65 and 100 euros.

On the public accounts front, Tria then explained that “in the current year there will be one 0,1% debt correction, we will see the latest data. We are in stabilization”, he then said, reiterating that the government's goal is to start reducing the debt to GDP ratio and not have a structural worsening of the budget.

As for Tav and Tap, "I hope that they will be done, that the problem will be resolved, that there is a solution - he added - also because these are large international connections".

Today in a hearing in the Environment Committee in the Chamber, Minister Toninelli reiterated that "with regard to the Turin-Lyon high-speed project, as well as the other major works resulting from the objective law, we are carrying out a careful and objective cost-benefit analysis to evaluate social, environmental and economic effects and see how much and if the costs outweigh the benefits. At the end of this evaluation and on the basis of it, we will make our political choice".
