Trenitalia strengthens the service in view of the summer and the enormous influx that has always characterized Italian tourist destinations. From the mountains to the sea, passing through the cities of art, the summer train timetable will be intensified with 437 trains (289 Frecce, 108 InterCity, 36 FrecciaLink, 32 EuroCity, 8 Euronight) and 190 new stops that will connect more than 240 stations. In some places, the road service will also be combined with the train. The tourist will therefore be able to get off at his own station and get on a bus directly that will take him to the desired destination, moving more easily and above all with a single ticket.

The summer timetable will come into force on Sunday 9 June and will continue until 15 September.

ROME-MILAN

The summer timetable will also cover the big cities with 32 new stops in the hubs of Milan, Medio-Padana and Naples; 104 Frecciarossa (56 without intermediate stops) between Rome and Milan, which will connect the two cities from 5.00 in the morning to midnight.

ADRIATIC COAST

In view of the summer, connections with the Adriatic coast have also been intensified, especially on weekends with two more Frecciarossa trains Milan – Ancona e two new Frecciargento Bolzano-Ancona. The four Frecce join the six Frecciarossa, 16 Frecciargento and 20 Frecciabianca: a total of 46.

Throughout the summer, also planned, six more Frecciarossa stops a Riccione, including four at the weekend. In particular between Milan and Riccione the journey is reduced to two hours and nine minutes, between Milan and Ancona at three hours and two minutes and between Milan and Bari at six hours and 45 minutes, between Bolzano and Ancona in four hours and 40 minutes. From Turin to Rimini three hours and 18 minutes are enough and from Turin to Ancona four hours and 13 minutes.

FROM AND TO VENICE

48 rides will connect Milan and Venice from 6.15 in the morning and last arrival in Venice Santa Lucia at 23.13. The two Frecciarossa connections on the Genoa – Milan – Venice route have also been confirmed.

Six Arrows connect Fiumicino Airport to Venice, Padua, Bologna, Florence, Genoa, La Spezia, Pisa and Rome; four Frecciarossa trains arrive at Trieste Airport.

FROM AND TO FIUMICINO AIRPORT

In addition to the arrows that connect the Leonardo Da Vinci to Venice, Trenitalia has made available two Frecciargento to and from Ponente Ligure (Genoa and La Spezia) and Tuscany (Pisa and Florence).

To enhance the connection of the Italian airport system with the high-speed one, four Frecciarossa trains on the Turin Trieste route stop at the Trieste Airport station, bringing the number of Frecce stops per day at the Trieste airport to 10.

CONNECTIONS TO THE SOUTH

Expected Frecciarossa in Cilento with stops in Agropoli, Vallo della Lucania, Centola / Palinuro / Marina di Camerota, Pisciotta / Palinuro and Sapri.

Six runs connect Rome and the rest of Italy to Calabria and Sicily (train+ship Blu Jet); new stops a Maratea. In detail, the new Frecciargento scheduled for the summer departs on Saturday and Sunday from Rome Termini at 6.25am and arrives at Central Reggio Calabria at 12.40. The Frecciargento heading north departs from Reggio Calabria Centrale at 16.00 and arrives in Rome at 21.55, thus ensuring the continuation of journeys north.

The Frecce Reggio Calabria – Rome are also in connection with Sicily thanks to the Blu Jet connections, the company of the Italian Railway Network (FS Italiane Group) which carries out the ferry service with fast ships between Villa San Giovanni and Messina. Rome and Messina are connected in five hours and 12 minutes with the Freccia plus ship solution.

Confirmed the 10 Frecciargento connections between Rome and Bari (every day except Saturday from Rome, all except Sunday from Bari).

INTERCITIES AND INTERNATIONAL ROUTES

108 InterCity connections per day (88) and InterCity Notte (20) are planned, reaching more than 200 cities and tourist destinations in Italy.

Confirmed i 48 daily connections with France, Switzerland, Germany and Austria. In this context, the EuroCity will depart from Milan for Zurich, Basel, Geneva and Lucerne in Switzerland and up to Frankfurt in Germany; from Venice to Zurich and Geneva. There are also EuroNight trains that connect Italy to Vienna, Salzburg and Munich. The Thello network has also been confirmed on the Venice – Milan – Dijon – Paris route by night train and on the Milan – Genoa – Nice – Marseille route by day train.

ARROW LINK: TRAIN + BUS

There are 52 new FRECCIALink stops for reaching cities of art, seaside or mountain resorts with Trenitalia's integrated train+bus service. Tourists will have the opportunity to arrive at their destination with a single ticket.

In detail, the FRECCIALink arrives:

  • a Pompeii and Sorrento (four journeys on Saturday and Sunday from/to Naples Central in connection with Frecciarossa from/to Rome, Bologna, Milan),
  • a Santa Maria di Leuca, Torre San Giovanni/Marina di Ugento, Otranto (two trips on Saturday and Sunday from/to Lecce in connection with the Frecciargento from/to Rome),
  • a Gallipoli (four trips on Saturday and Sunday to Lecce in connection with the Frecciargento from/to Rome),
  • a Piombino and Cecina (four trips a day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in connection with Frecciargento from/to Bologna, Milan and Venice).

As far as the mountains are concerned, the FRECCIALink service will start on 29 June and will end on 1 September by connecting:

  • Cortina d'Ampezzo (two trips, stops in Tai di Cadore and San Vito di Cadore),
  • Madonna di Campiglio (two trips, with stops in Pinzolo), Val Gardena (two trips, with stops in Selva di Val Gardena, Santa Cristina, Ortisei)
  • Val di Fassa (two trips with stops in Canazei, Vigo di Fassa, Moena).

Confirmed connections with Siena, Perugia, Assisi, Matera, Potenza, Cosenza and Catanzaro.
