Regional trains: Trenitalia's punctuality is growing

Improve the punctuality of FS Italiane regional trains. 2017 closed with 9 out of 10 regional trains arriving punctually and in any case no later than 5 minutes from the scheduled time; an improvement of 4 percentage points compared to 2014. The regularity of journeys reaches 98,9%, with total cancellations reduced to 1,1% and less than 0,4% for reasons attributable to Trenitalia. Cancellations more than halved compared to four years ago. Fs Italian communicates it. The group recently also concluded the 4,5 billion tender for the supply of 450 new regional trains.

Customer opinion confirms the positive trend in 2017: in the latest survey closed by the company in November, 83,2% said they were satisfied with the trip as a whole, making the average for the period from January to November rise from 76,1 2015% in 82,7 to 2017% in 6,6, with a growth of XNUMX percentage points in two years.

In particular, the arrival on time of the trains circulating during the morning peak hours is higher than the general average: in the 6-10 am range, 92% arrive on time, a percentage in line with that of last year. The trend continues to be positive: real punctuality increases by 4 percentage points compared to 2014, by one point compared to 2015 and by 0,1 towards 2016.

“These are indices which, considering only cancellations (less than 0,4%) and delays (2,9%) directly attributable to Trenitalia – underlines the railway group – rise to over 99,6% as regularity and 97,1% for punctuality, demonstrating that Trenitalia's industrial and organizational machine is confirming its positive evolution".

The 2017 balance takes into account the volume of services produced throughout Italy, equal to one million and 930.014 trains circulated in all the Regions and Autonomous Provinces where Trenitalia manages the service, covering a total of 155 million and 250.085 km with 451 million and 56.796 passengers boarded, up 0,5% on 2016.

Looking at the individual regions, it can be seen that the best performances in terms of real punctuality, which taking into account all delays give back what customers actually experienced, are recorded in Friuli Venezia Giulia, with 94,7% of punctual trains, followed by Autonomous Province of Bolzano, with 94,1%, Abruzzo with 93,5%, the Autonomous Province of Trento with 93%, then Veneto 92,6%, Marche 92,1%, Lazio 91,9 .90,8%, Tuscany 90,5 and Valle d'Aosta 0,4%. As regards the regularity of the service, on the other hand, the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Marches and Umbria take the podium with just XNUMX% of cancellations.
