There are almost 34 million Italians who receive the thirteenth 2021. To the 16 million pensioners who have found the additional month's salary in their account or who have collected it since November 25 together with the pension check, 17,8 million employees are added who have already begun the countdown for the arrival of the coveted Christmas bonus. In fact, the delivery is just a few days away. But who gets the thirteenth 2021, when does it arrive and how is it calculated? Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions.
THIRTEENTH 2021: WHO SHOULD IT
The additional salary that is accrued during the year is due to pensioners, including those receiving a survivor's pension, and to all categories of subordinate workers, ie both public and private employees. It is provided regardless of the type of contract you have: fixed-term or permanent, full-time or part-time. In the latter case, however, and in that of the intermittent workers, there is no mention of a thirteenth month salary, but of an increased hourly wage as a thirteenth month salary. Domestic workers (maids, bandits and babysitters) are also entitled to the bonus.
Who doesn't get it? To trainees and interns; to administrators, project workers and para-subordinate workers, VAT numbers and freelancers.
THIRTEENTH 2021: WHEN IT COMES
The thirteenth month is disbursed in a single installment in the month of December. It can be paid separately or together with salary or pension. There is no fixed date for payment, especially for private workers. However, the trend is to start payments before Christmas, in order to stimulate consumption in a period in which people traditionally spend more.
As far as civil servants are concerned, however, the thirteenth month is processed with the December pay slip and disbursed approximately from 10 to 20 December depending on the sector to which they belong and the collective agreement applied.
HOW IS THE THIRTEENTH 2021 CALCULATED?
Generally speaking, we can say that the amount of incentive pay is equal to one twelfth of the total received in a year. To calculate it, simply multiply the monthly salary by the months worked and divide everything by 12. If the worker has worked for less than 12 months, starting his job after January or interrupting it before December, the amount of the monthly salary (gross) it must be multiplied by the number of months of effective work and then divided by 12. The fixed gross salary must be taken as a reference, without extra hours or bonuses. On the other hand, maternity and paternity or matrimonial leave, accidents at work, illnesses (within the foreseen contractual constraints) must be included in the calculation.
The thirteenth is also accrued in the event of layoffs, but if the suspension from work is total, a wage integration equal to 80% of the salary is received, all paid for by INPS. Finally, we remind you that social security contributions and withholding taxes must be applied to the amount.
THIRTEENTH BONUS 2021 FOR PENSIONERS
Retirees who receive checks of up to 6.824 euros a year are entitled not only to the additional month's salary, but also to the so-called thirteenth month bonus. In detail, holders of a minimum pension will receive an increase of 154,94 euros on the slip. On the other hand, those who receive from 6.669 to 6.824,07 euros are entitled to the bonus, but only partially. In these cases, the personal income must be less than 10.003,70 euros, the marital one 20.007,39.
