Local public transport, trains, planes and even ships: between today and tomorrow strikes throughout Italy

LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT – Strike Thursday: buses, metro and trams are stopping in various Italian cities, from Milan to Bologna. In Milan, the general transport strike, at least for the moment, seems softer than the last few times: surface vehicles pass fairly regularly and the subway has remained open, albeit at a slightly reduced rate. The comings and goings of commuters seem regular and the passengers of the metropolitan trains passed the turnstiles of the Porta Garibaldi station without problems. This is the announcement released at 9: “Attention the general national transport strike began at 8.45 and will continue until 15. Traffic is normal on the M1 and M2 lines. Traffic on the M3 will be regular in the Centrale-Porta Romana section. There may be breaks on the surface. The second strike band will resume at 18 until the end of the service ".

Here is the complete strike map of local public transport traced by the Strike Guarantee Authority, which thus sheds light after the appearance of "certain contradictory press reports": "In Milan, Monza, Brianza, Genoa and Varese, due to a strike called by Cub, the transport it will not be guaranteed, except for the time slots provided for by the individual agreements”, he explains. While, he adds, in the relevant provinces, "the extra-urban service will be carried out from 21 to 23.59".

In Emilia Romagna, recalls the Authority, "the Usb acronym has proclaimed a 24-hour strike, with guaranteed bands, which will affect extra-urban rail transport". In the Region, he warns, a 24-hour urban transport strike is also planned in Reggio Emilia and a 4-hour strike in Bologna and Ferrara. Finally, Filt-Cgil proclaimed a 4-hour urban transport strike in Tivoli". Therefore, the Authority remarks, "at present, no other part of the national territory will be affected by strikes" by local public transport.

TRAINS – Expected for tomorrow, but starting at 21 tonight, the railway transport strike which will stop until 21 on Friday 30 November. The Ferrovie dello Stato group was keen to clarify that although it is a 24-hour stop, the inconvenience should be limited. This is also because Trenitalia guarantees the circulation of trains in the time slots with greater commuter mobility, i.e. from 6 to 9 and from 18 to 21.

PLANES - A 24-hour strike also for air transport operators, who will cross arms for the entire day of November 30th. To their protest will be added another 24-hour strike called by the staff of the Alitalia - Cai company. Anyone with a flight leaving tomorrow will simply have to consult the ENAV website so as to know in advance which flights are guaranteed by the companies.

SHIPS AND FERRIES – The connections with the smaller islands will be closed for 24 hours on 30 November, while the connections with the larger islands will remain blocked from 8 on 30/11 to 8 on 1/12. The Campania region alone will not be involved in the strike.
