Investments arriving in 2022 for the energy transition amount to 34,69 billion. The minister for ecological transition Roberto Cingolani said that he presented an initial timetable for the interventions that will be financed with the national recovery and resilience plan. Dates and tenders were announced in Milan during "Italiadomani - Dialogues on the National Recovery and Resilience Plan", the series of meetings promoted by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
A considerable mass of billions, therefore it will rain on the energy sector. It starts in the first quarter of 2022 with a 1,9 billion tender for biomethane. A 30 million tender for culture and awareness of environmental issues and challenges will follow in the second quarter. A further 680 million will go to the tender for the promotion of innovative plants to which must be added the 0,16 billion for research and development and another 450 million for those areas where specific applications of hydrogen are studied, the "Hydrogen Valleys".
Overall, two billion will be dedicated to the use of hydrogen next year, while 360 million have been earmarked for a returification project of the Po which is already in the operational phase. The bulk of the appropriations will arrive in the fourth quarter when "commitments of 4 billion are foreseen for projects to strengthen the smart grids and the climate resilience of the networks". Also at the end of the year, the green ports initiative will start, a 0,27 billion operation and another project dedicated to district heating systems.
We therefore enter into the heart of the commitments undertaken with Brussels in which mobility and distribution networks assume a preponderant importance. And it is understandable that this is the case given the drive towards the electrification of transport and consumption.
the Interministerial Committee for Ecological Transition (CITE), the Ministers of Ecological Transition (MITE) Roberto Cingolani, of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility Enrico Giovannini and of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti, a few days ago defined the timing for the replacement of motor vehicles internal combustion engines (for example, petrol and diesel): from 2035, new cars without internal combustion engines will no longer be sold, in line with what has been decided by the EU and in general by the more advanced countries. For vans and light commercial vehicles, the deadline has been set at 2040.
The commitment is to implement "all functional solutions for the decarbonisation of transport - states a note from Mite - in a logic of "technological neutrality", thus enhancing not only electric vehicles but also the potential of hydrogen, as well as recognizing – for the transition – the essential role of biofuels, in which Italy is building a cutting-edge domestic supply chain”.
