Trani: "Proceed the banks for usury". Bnl, Unicredit, Mps and Banca Popolare di Bari are targeted

The 62 suspects are accused of usurious rates on loans disbursed by their respective institutions with the endorsement of the Bank of Italy - Under the lens of the Public Prosecutor, among others, Anna Maria Tarantola, Fabrizio Saccomanni, Luigi Abete, Dieter Rampl, Alessandro Profumo, Federico Ghizzoni, Fabrizio Mussari and Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone.

The Trani Public Prosecutor's Office has investigated the heads of Bnl, Unicredit, Mps and Banca Popolare di Bari for complicity in bank usury. Among the 62 people served by the Guardia di Finanza of Bari with the notice of the end of the investigation, there are also the former head of supervision of Bankitalia, Anna Maria Tarantola (now president of Rai), and the former Minister of Economy Fabrizio Saccomanni (former general manager of via Nazionale). The suspects are accused of usurious rates on loans disbursed by the respective institutions with the backing of the Bank of Italy.

The former president of Bnl Luigi Abete, the past and current leaders of Unicredit, Dieter Rampl, Alessandro Profumo and Federico Ghizzoni, Fabrizio Mussari and Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone for Mps, and the number one of the Popolare di Bari, the president Fulvio Saroli and the managing director Marco Jacobini. Along with them also many other representatives of the boards of directors. 

Ruggiero has closed the investigation and will ask for a large portion of the Italian banking system to be brought to trial. Other illustrious names who ended up in the investigations for their offices are the lawyers Sergio Erede and Berardino Libonati, the tax lawyers Guglielmo Maisto and Tommaso di Tanno, the bankers Fabrizio Palenzona, Paolo Fiorentino, Piergiorgio Peluso, Vittorio Ogliengo, Vincenzo Nicastro, Antonio Vigni.
