Train strike 23-24 March: Frecce, regional and Intercity at risk. Italo and Trenord also stop, all the information

Two nightmare days for those who have to travel by train. In fact, one is scheduled for the first weekend of spring national strike which will involve the employees of the Fs Italiane – Due group Arrows e Trenitalia - Italo and Trenord. The announcement came directly from Ferrovie which warns travellers: the risk of inconvenience and delays is high.

“The national strikes could have a significant impact on railway traffic and lead to total and partial cancellations of Trenitalia's Frecce, Intercity and Regional trains. The effects, in terms of cancellations and delays, could occur even before and last beyond the end time of the strikes", underlines the note from the FS Group.

The strike was called by the independent unions SGB, USB and Cub Trasporti, which will involve both on-board and engine personnel.

Train strike 23-24 March: timetables and trains guaranteed

The strike will start at 21pm Saturday March 23 and will end 24 hours later, at 21:00 pm Sunday 24 March 2024. Anyone planning to take a train during the time slot affected by the protests will therefore do well to check whether the train is canceled or not. Indeed, they are at risk Frecce, Intercity and Regional trains of Trenitalia, but also Italo and Trenord trains. Trenitalia invites all passengers to inform themselves before going to the station and, where possible, to reschedule their journey. In fact, it is also necessary to take into account the fact that the effects of mobilization in terms of cancellations and delays “they may occur even before and continue beyond the end time of the strikes”.

In any case, some are expected guarantee bands: the list of guaranteed trains is on the site Trenitalia. Regional trains in the time slots between 6am and 9am and between 18pm and 21pm are also safe. Italo has also published a list of guaranteed trains.

Strike 23-24 March, Trenitalia: significant impact

As regards Trenitalia, the FS Group explains in a note, the impact of the strike will be "significant" and could "result in total and partial cancellations of Frecce, Intercity and Regional trains".

La Autonomous Province of Trento informs that from 21pm tomorrow to 21pm on Sunday trains may be subject to cancellations or variations, due to a national strike by the staff of the FS Group, Trenitalia, Trenord and Trenitalia Tper. “The agitation may therefore affect the services along the Brennero and those carried out by Trenitalia along the Valsugana and lead to changes to the service even before the start and after its conclusion,” we read in a note. A strike by Trentino Trasporti railway staff members of the Cub Trasporti union is also planned for Sunday. The railway staff and ticket office workers of the Trentino transport railway sector will guarantee the service from 5.30 to 8.30 and from 16 to 19.
