Tragedy in MotoGp: Marco Simoncelli dies very young, during the Malaysian GP in Sepang

A tragedy upsets the world of sport, leaving millions of fans in despair who recognized themselves in the very young Italian champion who lost his life racing a motorcycle. It's about Marco Simoncelli, just 24 years old. Supersic, as the MotoGP fans and commentators called it, he died this morning during the Malaysian GP in Sepang, overwhelmed on the second lap by Edwards' bike after crashing by himself. Valentino Rossi was also involved in the terrible accident, but he didn't suffer any consequences.

Simoncelli slipped out of the corner, remaining attached to the bike, which leaned inexplicably towards the center of the track: there Marco was hit by Edwards' Yamaha in a collision, in the very strong impact he lost his helmet, remaining motionless on the track. Chilling scene. Immediate help, race cancelled. But despite the efforts of the doctors at the Clinica Mobile, there was nothing they could do.

Accident dynamics very similar to that of Misano, in Moto2, last year, with Alex De Angelis and Scott Redding, who innocently mowed down poor Tomizawa who had already fallen, the last rider to die on the track in the world championship, before this accursed Malaysian GP. Marco Simoncelli's father asked that the organs of his son, who died in the second round of the Malaysian GP in Sepang, be donated, but it was not possible because the rider arrived at the medical center already in cardiac arrest.

Marco Simoncelli was only 24 years old, and was considered the rising star of Italian motorcycling. He was world champion in the 250cc class in 2008, and was currently considered a possible heir to Valentino Rossi in the premier class, given his promising (albeit discontinuous) results, his brilliant and aggressive riding style and above all his sunny and witty character, which had made him enter the heart of millions of Italian and non-Italian fans.

THE REACTIONS – Here is the memory of Giacomo Agostini: “It's always hard when these things happen, you have no words, you withdraw into yourself thinking of a young boy who lost his life loving his sport which unfortunately we know is dangerous. He was dragged onto the track by his motorbike and those arriving from behind were unable to avoid him. The tire has a fault but it's also us riders who want the tire to last from start to finish without reducing performance and we push the technicians to make tires that last until the end. It would be more correct to do as in my day, when the tires degraded and we went slower until we all reached the finish line in the same conditions". Finally a memory of SuperSic: "he was still a child, a pleasant person who had promised to come and visit me in Bergamo in winter, his girlfriend is from that area and I was waiting for him anxiously".

"Hello Marco. Great champion. Amazing person. Energy, enthusiasm, talent, joy, passion. Hello Marco. Hello sic. A hug to the family”, so the singer Jovanotti commented on twitter the death of Marco Simoncelli.

So the superbike rider, Marco Melandri: "Have a nice trip Marco, words will never explain suffering".

Nicky Hayden unfortunately he observed the accident up close: “A very bad day for all of us, I saw Marco fall, with his bike going inland and the others hitting him – said the Ducati rider from States -. When he came out of a bend, his rear end slipped away, he probably tried to counterbalance the bike and couldn't do it. When you are on top of each other there is little you can do. I feel a very strong pain, on the track we are all brothers and are part of the same family. We will miss Marco so much, he was a very nice guy and now I don't know what else to say, just may he rest in peace. I am close to his family: in times like this you have to be strong ”.

Football also commemorates Marco Simoncelli and today 1 minute of silence will be observed on all courts. "Every Rossoneri sportsman and the AC Milan club embrace Marco's family, a great Rossoneri fan, to whom we send our most heartfelt and sincere condolences from the official website at this sad moment". This is Milan's message for the death of Marco Simoncelli.

Inter also remembered the missing driver: "President Massimo Moratti and all of FC Internazionale – reads the Nerazzurri website -, together with Claudio Ranieri and the team, share in the pain of the Italian and world sporting world over his passing of the pilot Marco Simoncelli. In memory of a passionate young champion, Inter embraces Marco Simoncelli's family and friends."
