Number Ten forever. The "Dieci" will continue to be an important point of reference for Francesco Totti, even if the former "Captain" has said goodbye to As Roma and this shirt.

In fact, the cluster revolves around the number ten seven companies, all of the "limited liability" type (Srl) that Pupone has built over time, with foresight, to reinvest the money (a lot) earned in football. The preferred sector is real estate, with investments in the center of Rome, in the southern area of ​​the capital, but also in the extreme periphery, in Tor Tre Teste. Then, there is the football school in Ostia. On the other hand, attempts to diversify the business with the online sale of objects with the sample's brand did not give positive results, merchandising.

Numberten Srl, or “number ten”, is the company that acts as holding, the parent company of Totti's business empire. Numberten was formed on 4 April 2001 by the notary Maurizio Misurale. Totti was 24 and a half years old and was leading the Giallorossi club to conquer the Scudetto, the third (and, for now, last) in the history of the football team most loved by the Romans.

The partners of the Srl originally were the footballer's mother, Fiorella Marrozzini, with 60% of the shares, e the brother of the Captain, Riccardo Totti, six years older, was born in 1970. Since 2009 the company shares have changed, now Francesco Totti owns 83,19% of the capital, the rest is divided between mother Fiorella (10,08%) and brother Riccardo (6,72%).

Numberten is classified in the category "Agencies and agents or solicitors for entertainment and sport". He deals with communication, events, manages the image rights of Totti, of which his brother Riccardo was also the attorney, since more than 16 years ago the Pupone broke off relations with Franco Zavaglia, who was linked to Gea.

This was the company of attorneys created by the sons of powerful exponents of football and finance, from Alessandro Moggi to Chiara Geronzi, in partnership with some of the sons of Sergio Cragnotti and Calisto Tanzi. Riccardo Totti is the chairman of Numberten and holds the same office, or that of sole director, in the other six companies which, directly or indirectly, are controlled by the parent holding company. The Captain does not hold positions on the boards of directors of his companies.

The family company also entered the field directly in relations with Rome. When on 31 May 2005 the club, at the time still owned by Franco Sensi, announced the extension of the contract with the "Captain" (in the press release written with a capital C, as "Calciatore") until 30 June 2010. The The agreement envisaged a gross salary of 10,4 million euros for the player for each football season. Roma he also announced that he had defined an exclusive license agreement with Numberten for the use of Totti's image rights for 520 thousand euros per season, a sum which it added to the already sumptuous salary.

In the final stage of the career Totti's salary has significantly decreased. For this last season there has been talk of around 100 euros net per month or a little more, even if the figure has not been officially disclosed. Numberten started in 2001 with revenues of 1,11 million. The sum increased to a peak of 3,29 million in 2006, the year in which it achieved a record profit of 806.446 euros after tax. Then the revenues gradually decreased, in the last three years Numberten had revenues of 1,27 million in 2013, 2,019 million in 2014, 1,156 million in 2015. The 2016 balance sheet is not yet available.

From 2001 to 2015, Numberten closed 12 balance sheets with profits and three with losses. In recent years alone there have been budgets in the red, -3.426 euros in 2012, -33.310 in 2013, -61.481 euros in 2015. At the end of 2015 the company had an active net equal to 14,65 million, made up of tangible fixed assets for 5,66 million (essentially buildings and land), a value equal to the purchase cost, financial fixed assets (i.e. the value of equity investments in other subsidiaries) for 2,357 million, receivables for 6,92 million, liquid assets for 696.243 euros deposited in the bank. The company, despite having a capital of only 119 thousand euros, ha a net worth much more substantial, equal to 7,4 million, including undistributed profits of previous years equal to 4,28 million and revaluation reserves of buildings and land for 3,039 million (the revaluation was made in 2008). The company has a debt not negligible, amounting to 7,18 million, including payables to shareholders "for loans" amounting to 3,467 million.

The holding directly controls five companies. The most important is the Real Estate Ten, 100% owned, recorded in the balance sheet for a value of just over two million. In 2015 it had revenues of 956.415 euros and a net profit of 33.268, a sharp decline compared to previous years (profits had been 182.568 euros in 2013 and 95.541 in 2014). At the end of 2015 it had liquidity of 1,235 million and shareholders' equity of 1,1 million. The total debts amounted to 3,567 million, almost entirely were "debts to shareholders for loans" (ie to the parent company, Numberten). This Srl owns 100% of another company, the seventh of the Totti empire, Real Estate Ten (there isn't much imagination in the names), whose 2015 financial statements show revenues of 1,008 million with a net profit of 101.891 euros, liquidity of 969.510 and debts of 1,47 million.

Among other companies there is Stringer, wholly owned by Numberten. It manages the As Longarina sports center in Ostia, which the Totti family bought in the summer of 100 from Angelo Orazi, another former Roma player, together with a 2001 square meter car park. Here is the Totti Soccer School, the football school. The accounts for the financial year as at 30 June 2016 show revenues of 47.356 euros and a net loss of 16.797. La Longarina has real estate assets valued in the balance sheet at 2,29 million. Numberten also owns 100% of Acilia Real Estate, a company that has emptied itself, revenues have collapsed from 775.000 euros in 2013 to 235.000 in 2014 and just 4.560 in 2015. The last balance sheet closed in the red for 20.305 euros.

Finally, there are two small companies in Numberten's portfolio. Skins Srl which was inactive in 2015 (zero revenues and 694 euros in losses), 51% owned (49% owned by Roberto Maltoni). Finally the Ft. 10 Ltd, owned 60%, there are two other partners, was supposed to sell products related to the Totti brand online but it didn't take off, the latest available balance sheet indicates a turnover of 7.500 euros and a loss of 5.783 in 2014.

There is no consolidated balance sheet that brings together the accounts of the entire Totti empire, eliminating the intercompany accounting items, such as for example the loans between the parent company and the subsidiaries, which represent receivables for the former and debits for the others. Doing an algebraic sum of all the main items, an aggregate balance is obtained, which in any case gives an overall idea.

In 2015, Totti's seven companies reported aggregate revenues of 3,17 million, while the algebraic sum of the net result (two companies are profitable, five in the red) gives a aggregate net profit of just 30.099 euros, total liquidity is 2,9 million. THE aggregate payables amount to approximately 8,6 million, excluding reciprocal debit and credit items between the companies. In addition to the properties owned, in Totti's companies there are three leased properties, the contracts are all with a single bank, the Monte dei Paschi di Siena group (Mps Leasing and Factoring), at the end of 2015 the "present value" of the installments still to be paid amounted to approximately 17 million. This too is an implicit debt, which is added to the debts indicated in the financial statements.

In the book "The Kings of Rome - Right and left under the orders of Mafia Capitale" (2015, Chiarelettere publisher), journalists Lirio Abbate and Marco Lillo recounted that the company Immobiliare Ten di Totti has obtained more than 5 million euros from the Municipality of Rome in six years, to the rental of 35 furnished apartments in a residence in the extreme suburbs, in via Tovaglieri in Tor Tre Teste. The Municipality paid 75.000 euros a month for rent as social housing, from 2008 to 2014, a rent described as high by the authors of the book.

Abbate and Lillo wrote that the head of the municipal tender commission was Luca Odevaine, former Deputy Chief of Cabinet of Mayor Walter Veltroni. Arrested in investigation for Capital Mafia, Odevaine was later sentenced to a total of three years and two months' imprisonment, for events related to the management of immigrants for the Cara di Mineo, in Sicily. A conviction is for bid rigging and forgery (2 years and 8 months), the other for corruption (6 months).

No one is under investigation for the rent of Totti's houses to the Municipality. In the book "Mafia Capitale", Abbate and Lillo recount that two buildings in via Rasella, in the center of Rome, owned by Totti's Immobiliare Dieci, have been united and renovated and house the administrative offices of the secret services.

From a search that I did in the Cerved database it also emerges that in the Cadastre Francesco Totti is the owner of seven buildings, in South Rome, all under the separation of property regime. The main one is the 21-room villa where Francesco lives with his wife Ilary Blasi and their three children, in the Torrino area (I omit the street to respect confidentiality). In addition, Totti owns a 30-room villa in via Lisippo, with an estimated value in the Land Registry of 1,425 million, in the Axa area, where his mother and brother Riccardo's family live. Then there is the villa on the Sabaudia seafront with 9,5 rooms. Again, there is a house with 4 rooms in viale Giorgio Ribotta, in Eur, with a garage of 18 square meters and a room of 5 square meters in the "warehouses and storage rooms" category. In the Land Registry the value of five buildings is estimated, for a value of 2,39 million. The value of the villa at Torrino with 21 rooms has not been estimated. This house has a garage of 150 square meters, which according to the Land Registry is worth 333.750 euros.
