The huge write-downs linked to the US nuclear subsidiary Westinghouse, now in bankruptcy, caused the 7,5 billion euro red loss recorded in the last financial year.

Toshiba archives the year ended last March with a net loss of 965 billion yen, equal to approximately 7,5 billion euros. Huge write-downs of the now bankrupt US nuclear subsidiary Westinghouse caused the crash.

Toshiba, which had repeatedly asked for an extension to the publication of the results, had until today to disclose the numbers, otherwise it would remain on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Japanese group also announced the estimate of a return to profit in this accounting year with an expected profit of 230 billion yen (1,8 billion euros). In the first quarter, the group recorded a net income of 50,3 billion yen, down 36% on the year, but Ebitda rose to 96,7 billion yen, on revenues up 8,2% , to 1.143,6 billion.
