Tuscany, Puglia and Campania remain in the center-left and in Veneto Zaia humiliates Salvini

The regional derby between the centre-right and the centre-left ends 3 to 3. Tuscany, Campania and Puglia are confirmed as "red", the Marches turn right and join Veneto and Liguria. A result considered impossible until yesterday, so much so that today the Democratic Party rejoiced and the center-right leaders turned up their noses, who hoped to win in all regions. We recall that there was also a vote in Valle d'Aosta, where, however, it does not directly express a president.

In the meantime, the 5 Star Movement, essentially excluded from the race for the leadership of the Regions, consoled itself with the victory of the Yes vote in the constitutional referendum on the cut in MPs: the cut in MPs obtained 69,6% of the votes in favour, the 30,4% of voters.

TUSCANY

In Tuscany, the centre-left candidate, Eugenio Giani won with an advantage of more than 8 points over the centre-right candidate, Susanna Ceccardi: the first is at 48,6%, the second at 40,4%. Tuscany is therefore confirmed as the stronghold of the left, despite the tribulations of the day before which had led many to talk about a possible historical turning point.

“We stopped Salvini”, says the regional secretary of the PD, Simona Bonafé – “The Tuscans did not believe Salvini's propaganda, they did not believe Susanna Ceccardi's false moderate tones. You presented yourself in more moderate and conciliatory tones, but the Tuscans rewarded the Tuscan model known throughout the world, which was able to handle the health crisis better than the others ”.

VENETO

Plebiscite in Veneto for the outgoing governor Luca Zaia who obtained 76,78% of the votes against 15,73% of the main centre-left candidate, Arturo Lorenzoni.

The results of the lists are important - especially for the internal leadership of the League. The one in support of Zaia outclasses the official list of the League with 44,6% of the votes, which stops at 16,9%. The Democratic Party obtained 11,9% of the votes, followed by the Brothers of Italy with 9,6%, the Venetian List with 2,4%, the 5 Star Movement with 2,7%, Forza Italy with 3,4%, green Europe with 1,7%, the Veneto we want with 2%, the Movimento 3v with 0,7%, Rifondazione-pci with 0,6% and the others at 2,8%.

LIGURIA

In Liguria, the outgoing governor, Giovanni Toti, has a clear advantage with 56,13% of the votes. At 38,9% the candidate of the Pd-M5s, Ferruccio Sansa. Third Aristide Massardo, candidate of Italia Viva, who stands at 2,42%.

"It's the biggest victory the centre-right has ever achieved in this region," Toti commented. “The left took about 20 points less than last time out. It is a conquest for the centre-right and a defeat for the yellow-red union”.

MARCHE

After 25 years, the Marches are instead turning right, where the center-right candidate, Francesco Acquaroli, is in the lead with 49,14% of the preferences. Maurizio Mangialardi of the centre-left is instead at 37,28%. The M5s candidate Gianmario Mercorelli is at 8,62%.

“Great regret for the Marches. If the M5s had made the alliance, which we have been looking for until the end, we would have won the fourth region. However, we are waiting for the official data – comments the mayor of Pesaro, Matteo Ricci, with a post on Facebook – With the victory in Campania, Tuscany and Puglia, Zingaretti and the Democratic Party are strengthened”.

CAMPANIA

Victory without appeal for Vincenzo De Luca in Campania. The outgoing governor won 69,49% of the votes. At 17,98% his challenger from the centre-right, Stefano Caldoro.

It is an electoral result "which cannot be read in terms of right and left but my candidacy was supported by the progressive world but also by many moderate forces and many forces of the non-ideological right". This is the comment of the governor of Campania, Vincenzo de Luca. All forces that "have recognized themselves in a government program, in the work done in recent years", he continued.

PUGLIA

Puglia's result surprised many observers. The head-to-head announced for weeks actually seems to have not taken place, with the outgoing governor Michele Emiliano leading by more than 6 percentage points over the center-right candidate, Raffaele Fitto: 46,77% against 38,95%. The candidate of the Movimento 11,11 Stelle, Antonella Laricchia, stops at 5%, while Ivan Scalfarotto (Italia Viva and other lists) is at 1,6%.

VALLE D'AOSTA

In the regional elections in Valle d'Aosta (where voting is done with a different electoral system compared to the other regions) the first party is the Lega (20-24%), followed by the Progressive Civic Project (which also includes the Democratic Party) with 13- 17% and by the Union Valdoteaine (11-15%) and by the centre-right (FI and Fdi-Meloni) 8-10%).

REFERENDUM

In the meantime, the first comments of the political leaders on the result of the referendum have arrived. The Yes to the cut of parliamentarians won with 69,5% of the preferences, against 30,5% of the No.

“Someone wanted to turn this referendum vote into a defeat of the government, but also my personal one. But it was a boomerang, we have achieved a historic result”, commented the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luigi Di Maio. "The next step will necessarily have to be the approval of a new proportional electoral law that is able to favor governance", added the former political leader of the M5S.

The secretary of the Democratic Party Nicola Zingaretti was also satisfied: “It is confirmed that the Democratic Party is the force of change, the guarantor also in this legislature of a path of innovation and modernization of the institutions that we have always felt the need for. With the victory of the Yes, a season of reforms now opens: we want it and with the allies we will do everything to ensure that it goes ahead quickly".
