Turin, Yes Tav back in the square: "The Government decides"

Turin returns to the streets on Saturday to urge the Government to unblock the important infrastructure which, if not built, would have huge costs for our country and would expose Italy to an incredible international fool - VIDEO.

Turin, Yes Tav back in the square: "The Government decides"

The "Yes, Turin goes on" movement is back in the streets. More than two months after the successful demonstration in Piazza Castello, in the center of the Piedmontese capital, which brought together tens of thousands of people from civil society and the business world who want to express their Yes not only to the TAV but also more generally to the future and to Europe, the movement founded by the by now famous seven female professionals from Turin (Simonetta Carbone, Roberta Castellina, Donatella Cinzano, Roberta Dri, Patrizia Ghiazza, Giovanna Giordano, Adele Olivero: read the interview given to FIRSTonline) organize one new mobilization for Saturday 12 January, always in Turin and always in Piazza Castello.

The appointment is at 11,30 and the slogan still focuses attention on the TAV, precisely on the days in which it was published the negative outcome of the cost-benefit analysis carried out by the commissioners appointed by Minister Danilo Toninelli: "TAV, no more delays!" reads the appeal launched on the sitorinovaavanti.org website. However, the message does not only concern the disputed Turin-Lyon but is in general an appeal, accepted by a large part of the citizenry, to say No to those who say No to everything: from the TAV to Europe, passing through the Olympics, in which Turin had to give up for 2026, after the successful 2006 edition, leaving the ball to Milan and Cortina.

The "Yes, Turin goes forward" movement also points the finger at it the increase in motorway tolls from 1 January only for the north-west motorways, Turin-Bardonecchia, Aosta-Mont Blanc and Turin-Savona, as well as on yet another delay by the government on construction of the Turin-Lyon line. “This umpteenth government postponement puts a serious mortgage on 800 million of European funds for Turin-Lyon, as the EU spokesman pointed out at the end of 2018. If the TAV stops, 800 people will lose their jobs, currently employed in Turin-Lyon; there will not be the 6000 expected hirings, 50% for the local workforce, and a 4 billion euro mortgage will be issued on the future of our children, without considering the penalties".

Finally, as the mayors of the Val di Susa have pointed out, the risk is that the heavy vehicles will pour into the state roads, penalizing the local population and – at this point yes – endangering the environment. "For these reasons, we want to express our willingness to go ahead with the TAV and with the country's infrastructure to solicit a timely response from the Government".
