Turin, the "Si Tav" Committee returns to the streets on 12 January

“Enough of the delays! The future of Italy passes through infrastructures”, reads the title of the statement released by the committee of seven women entrepreneurs from Piedmont, who had already brought tens of thousands of people to the streets in November increase in tolls for the North-West motorways.

Turin, the "Si Tav" Committee returns to the streets on 12 January

The "Yes, Turin goes on" movement, which in November brought tens of thousands of people to the streets in the Piedmontese capital to say Yes not only to the TAV but to all infrastructure and to say No to all the No of the municipal administration (for example on the 2026 Olympics) and a certain current of national government, returns to the streets again. He will do it on Saturday 12 January, to relaunch the concept: “Enough with the delays! The future of Italy passes through infrastructures”, reads the title of the press release.

"The year 2018 is over - claims the movement led by the seven women entrepreneurs from Piedmont -, but it has not come still no news on the results of the cost-benefit analysis of the TAV, promised several times by the Government. For this reason we no longer want to stand still, but we want to make the voice of all those who care about the country's infrastructure heard".

The organization has also pointed the finger at it the increase in motorway tolls from 1 January only for the north-western motorways, Turin-Bardonecchia, Aosta-Mont Blanc and Turin-Savona, which suggests a move by the government to influence the work of the commission in charge, which should have already delivered its assessments on the TAV.

“This umpteenth government postponement puts a serious mortgage on 800 million of European funds for Turin-Lyon, as the EU spokesman pointed out at the end of 2018. If the TAV stops, 800 people will lose their jobs, currently employed in Turin-Lyon; there will not be the 6000 expected hirings, 50% for the local workforce, and a 4 billion euro mortgage will be issued on the future of our children, without considering the penalties".

Finally, as the mayors of the Val di Susa have pointed out, the risk is that the heavy vehicles will pour into the state roads, penalizing the local population and – at this point yes – endangering the environment. "For these reasons, we want to express our willingness to go ahead with the TAV and with the country's infrastructure to solicit a timely response from the Government".
