The Nikkei index of the Tokyo stock exchange closed the session in parity, but recorded the worst quarter for over a year. The causes can be found in the weakening of purchases by the pension fund as well as the general fragility of other Asian markets where risk aversion is increasing more and more.
 
The Nikkei closed down -0,01% to 8.700,29 points while the broader Topix dropped 0,15% to 761,17 points. More substantial sales, on the other hand, on industrial stocks after i production dataand that they let the operators down.

The indiscretion spread by the local media regarding the interest of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG), Japan's third largest bank, for the acquisition of Promise Co. also created havoc on the market. With the markets closed, SMFG formalized a offer of 83,4 billion yen for the shares it does not yet own in its former subsidiary Promise.
