Tlc, Zte invests in Italy: "5G will reshape the country's future"

In Italy there is still little talk of Zte, despite the Chinese multinational active in the sector of telecommunications has been present on the national territory since 2005 with offices in Rome, Turin and Milan. But from now on the tide seems destined to change not only because abroad the company is by now a consolidated reality with 85 employees worldwide, a turnover of 100 billion and a 150% increase in the stock (listed on the Shenzhen and Hong Kong stock exchanges) over the past year, but above all because Zte has decided to focus on Italy, making it its European hub and investing in 5G, the Internet of Things and smart cities.

One month ago Zte Italy has transformed into Zte Italy, in order to reaffirm the strategic role that the country is assuming in the development plans of the Chinese multinational, and has gone from 30 to 600 employees in less than a year. "We have been in Italy for more than ten years and we intend to increase our investments more and more by focusing on 5G, the new standard destined to grow and which will be fundamental for overcoming the digital divide", he said Hu Kun, CEO of ZTE Italy.

There are three cornerstones of the "mission" that the company intends to carry out in Italy: development of new technologies, investments and training of young people, all topics covered during the event held on 6 December at La Lanterna in Rome.

“On board our team – said CEO Hu Kun – we only want the best, people who are able to meet our expectations and perform at the highest levels, in order to always offer the best results to our customers. We are proud to contribute to the digital development of Italy. 5G will reshape our future”.

Xiao Ming, senior vice president ZTE, underlined how the "digitization trend is a global phenomenon that we must know how to exploit to the best of our possibilities".

To do this, the company has signed important agreements in our country with partners such as Wind3 (for the purpose of creating the single Wind3 "Golden Network") e Open Fiber (to implement the ultra-broadband network).

But the Italian strategy of Zte Italia also passes through the close partnerships with the Universities of L'Aquila and Tor Vergata, which led to the creation of a "Joint Training Center" in Villa Mondragone and a 5G research center to train future telecommunications engineers.

The poles thus become part of ZTE University, a worldwide circuit that has 15 other centers around the world, created to provide advanced training services for customers, employees and partner companies. ZTE University's activities currently involve nearly 500 people and more than 400 companies around the world.

The event was attended by Zheng Xuan, Chinese deputy ambassador, Hu Kun, CEO of ZTE Italy and President of ZTE western Europe, Jeffrey Hedberg, CEO of Wind Tre, operator at the top of mobile telephony and second in fixed telephony, Andrea Falessi, director of relations external Open Fiber, Paola Inverardi, rector of the University of L'Aquila and Giuseppe Novelli, rector of the University of Tor Vergata.
