The sales of smartphones and tablets are driving the consumer electronics market which, according to data from the Cea association and the Gfk research office, should record a recovery in 2013, with growth in world spending on telephones, computer equipment and televisions equal to 4% compared to 2012, at 1.100 billion dollars.

As mentioned, growth is driven by the expected sales of smartphones (+22%) and tablets (+25%), which seem destined to cannibalize the other market segments, leading to a reduction in purchases of televisions and cameras.

In 2012, on the other hand, the electronics market had fallen by 1% compared to 2011. The negative performance in the more developed countries weighed down on the decline in the year just ended (performances that will continue in the current year, as regards Western Europe, where a 1% drop should be recorded. Growth will be driven by massive expansion of consumption in emerging markets, up 9% to $490 billion, thanks mainly to the expansion of the range of products available.
