Tlc, the monopoly of algorithms: challenge for industry and Authority

The digital world is ever wider, which almost by now encompasses what is usually considered “real”. This is why it is necessary in Italy to identify a regulation on the issues of digitization, Over The Top and Big Data, while at European level the Copyright Regulation is still being discussed, in particular on the issue of copyright, and the cognitive survey on Big Data.

Although in the last period progress has been made by the regulator and the legislator, it is a path that is still being defined, since the matter is in an evolving phase and is destined to change with the advent of 5G and of related technologies.

It is to stimulate a dialogue on the subject that Open Gate Italia has organized a round table for this evening "The monopoly of algorithms" starting from the presentation of the volume: "Is competition a click away? Challenge to monopoly in the digital age” by Stefano Mannoni and Guido Stazi, which investigates the scenario in which different actors from different backgrounds operate.

The event was moderated by Paolo Mazzanti, director of Askanews and president of Open Gate Italia. During the meeting, representatives of different sectors will take turns to build through i industry, regulator and policy perspectivesa complete picture of the situation.

After the authors of the volume, Stefano Mannoni and Guido Stazi, introduced by Laura Rovizzi, managing director of Open Gate Italia and Maria Pia Caruso, Agcom manager and vice president of the External Relations Club, Francesco Rutelli, president of Anica, and professor Francesco Posteraro will intervene , Commissioner Agcom. Deputies Deborah Bergamini, Vincenza Bruno Bossio, Massimiliano Capitano and Emanuele Scagliusi of the IX Transport, Post and Telecommunications Commission of the Chamber of Deputies will follow, offering a political analysis of the issue.

Tuesday 19 March at 18 pm, Open Gate Italia, Via Beccaria 23 Rome.
