Tivùsat exceeds 6 million viewers. The satellite platform for viewing digital terrestrial channels also in HD and ultra HD starts the new year with over 4 million activated smartcards. 

The quality and breadth of the offer offered by tivùsat – 180 TV and radio channels, of which 57 in HD quality and 7 in 4K – have generated a 40% increase in audience at the end of December 2020 compared to the same month of the previous year. While television viewing increased overall by 11,3%. The minutes dedicated to the television offer for tivùsat users also increased, with an increase of 27 minutes a day.

According to the survey conducted by Studio Frasi, the end of the lockdown and the recovery of economic activity coincided with a return to normality in television ratings. The free satellite platform maintains an increase in audience of between 30 and 40% compared to 2019.

The transition to second generation satellite television has already begun (the transition to HD and 4K). Among the new arrivals there is LA7 and the new channel Home Garden TV.

Since December 2020, Nove, DMAX, Real Time, Cielo, TV8 and TV2000 have only been broadcasting in HD. The K2, Frisbee, La7d, the 23 channels of the Rai Regional TG, Rai Radio channels and the Mediaset channels: Iris, La5, Mediaset Extra, Mediaset Italia 2, TGCOM24, 20 Mediaset, TopCrime, Focus, Cine34, Boing, Cartoonito also broadcast in DVB-S2 and are therefore visible on tivùsat only with a decoder or HD satellite CAM or tivùsat certified.

In 2021 the news will continue and almost all channels will only be viewable with an HD and 4K device. Furthermore, during the year the three main Mediaset channels will also broadcast in HD only: Rete 4 in June, then Italia Uno in October and finally, in December it will be the turn of Canale 5.
