Tirrenia to Cin, the union's go-ahead. The response of the European Antitrust is now awaited

The unions gave the go ahead overnight: it's official, the Tirrenia company passes to Cin. Now we just have to wait for the confirmation of the European antitrust for the operation of the agreement.

The agreement, signed by the trade unions Filt, Fit and Uilt, guaranteed the transfer to the acquiring company of the entire personnel, both seafaring and administrative, with the same salary conditions and also the regulatory and contractual ones (which however expired last year and should be renewed).

Cin, the Italian shipping company, is a group including Marinvest, Grimaldi Group and Moby. Particularly interested the purchase of the «Tirrenia» brand, of 18 ships and lines through the agreement entered into with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

Instead they stay Siremar, fast ferries, real estate properties and works of art are excluded from the acquisition. The total cost of the privatization of Tirrenia is 380 million euros.

In return, Cin is committed, as we said, not only to maintain all staff, but also to replace older ships, strengthen the commercial network, adjust on-board standards to international levels and improve passenger services and travel conditions.

The ambition is to become a leading company first in the Mediterranean and then also far from Italy, perhaps in the Caribbean Sea, with an international business branch. That's exactly what they are for the fears of the European Antitrust, which has yet to give the ok to the operation
