Tim: ultrabroadband services in 2500 Municipalities

In 19 million homes it is therefore possible to navigate with a maximum download speed ranging from 100 to 1.000 megabits per second – 116 municipalities with a 1 gigabyte connection, 1800 to 200 megabits.

Tim's ultrabroadband services on the fixed network are available in 2500 Italian municipalities. Coverage has reached 80% of the national territory: in 19 million homes it is therefore possible to navigate with a maximum download speed ranging from 100 to 1.000 megabits per second.

In detail, around 1800 municipalities already benefit from connections of up to 200 megabits per second in download, while super-fast connections in FTTH technology, characterized by a
speeds of up to 1 Gigabit, are instead available in 116 municipalities – including 30 large cities – for coverage
total of over 2,9 million homes.

Moving from fixed network to mobile coverage, 4G ultrabroadband is already today equal to 98% of the population.

“By 2020 – reads the company note – Tim will continue the development of ultrabroadband networks by making FTTH ultrabroadband connections available in additional locations up to 100 large cities. The first 5G services will also be launched after the successes of the technological trials and the installation of the first new generation antennas already switched on in Turin, San Marino, Bari and Matera (in the latter two cities together with Fastweb and Huawei)”.
