Tim: first 5G factory for Exor International in Verona

The new Exor Smart Factory will show the advantages of the digitization envisaged by the Industry 4.0 initiative to manufacturing companies that need to be innovative and competitive in the market

Tim: first 5G factory for Exor International in Verona

At the start first Italian factory connected to TIM's private 5G network. The Smart Factory in Verona makes use of the most advanced technologies and Industrial IoT Edge computing solutions in order to improve productivity and reduce maintenance costs, all in a sustainable key.

In detail, the smart factory was built inside the factory of Exor International - manufacturer of digital platforms for the industrial sector - which uses the frequencies at 3,7 GHz and 26GHz (millimeter wave) acquired by Tim in the Mise race. In addition, it allows you to take advantage of the very low latency and the maximum level of security and reliability that characterize dedicated indoor coverage.

Furthermore, the smart factory takes advantage of theArtificial Intelligence from Intel and the 5G laboratory inside the plant allows manufacturing companies to test their applications within a private network and integrate them with cutting-edge solutions, offering greater value for the market in terms of competitiveness.

For example, it will also be possible to experience the effectiveness of 5G in improving communication industrial robots connected. A part of the 5G factory and laboratory will be open for businesses to showcase the benefits of the latest network technologies and solutions Industrial IoT Edge. Finally, Exor will launch a pilot project for the creation of a quality visual inspection machine that will be able to automatically and quickly detect the presence of defects, traces of dust and scratches.

In this way – reads a note – it is possible to interconnect, exchange large quantities of data and remotely monitor industrial plants, guaranteeing greater efficiency and significantly improving the production cycle.

“We are proud to have created the first private 5G network in Italy alongside a manufacturing excellence in the Northeast such as Exor which immediately grasped the potential of this solution. It is in fact a real network dedicated to the company that allows you to optimize the processes of the Smart Factory 4.0 and to benefit from the best performance of 5G - commented Federico Rigoni, Chief Revenue Officer Tim –. We intend to offer this model to all client companies, starting with those present in over 140 industrial districts".

“We have built this Smart Factory from scratch to respond to a market that is increasingly asking for more answers in the shortest possible time. Tim's “Digitalization” and 5G technology give us these answers – he commented Claudius Amber, chief technical officer of Exor International –. Even a reality like ours demonstrates that digitization can be implemented on any scale and this is particularly important for manufacturing companies that need to be innovative and competitive on the market".

While Christine Boles, vice president of the Internet of Things Group and General Manager Industrial Solutions of Intel underlined how this factory will be a concrete example for companies that want to ride the wave of digitization in order to "reduce maintenance costs, increase productivity and take advantage from market opportunities.
