The Tim Group joins the Open-es project launched by Eni and invites its suppliers to join the initiative to ensure the development of a sustainable supply chain all together. Next goal: “Net Zero” i.e. reducing indirect carbon emissions from upstream suppliers to end users, by 2040

Tim joins the Open-es project for the sustainability of the production chain

With the aim of accelerating the path of sustainable transformation of its production chain, TIM becomes "Value Chain Partners"of Open-es, the system alliance that unites the industrial, financial and associative worlds to support companies on the path to sustainable development. Launched in early 2021 by Eni in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group e Google Cloud, Open-es now has more than 7.600 companies from 66 different industrial sectors engaged in the process of measuring, improving and sharing ESG performance.

Through the online information platform TIM will be able to detect the sustainability performance of its suppliers, strengthen the qualification process with market ESG standards and build shared growth paths. ESG (Environmental, Social, and corporate Governance ) indicates a real rating, often known as "sustainability ratings” which expresses itself on the environmental, social and governance impact of a company or an organization operating on the market. The combination of each initiative by TIM contributes to the achievement of various ambitious objectives ahead of schedule.

What is the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and how does it work

Il Corporate Standards classifies the direct and indirect emissions of companies into three different areas (scopes):

  • scope 1, company-generated direct emissions, the source of which is owned or controlled by the company,
  • scope 2, indirect emissions generated by the energy purchased and consumed by the company,
  • scope 3, includes all other indirect emissions that are generated by the company's value chain.

With the Open-es project, TIM is pushing forward on the accelerator for the reduction of Scope 3 emissions.
