Tim and Google together for the cloud

Tim has signed an agreement with Google Cloud to form a joint technology collaboration. The companies announce it in a note, explaining that the agreement comes following the memorandum of understanding signed last November. At the same time, Tim announced that he has entered into an agreement with Disney for the exclusive distribution of Disney+ in combination with broadband offers.

THE DEAL WITH GOOGLE CLOUD

In particular, Tim and Google Cloud will work together to create new public, private and hybrid cloud services. The goal of the Italian company is to further strengthen itself in cloud and edge computing services, so as to accelerate the growth of revenues from technological services and reach a turnover of one billion (with Ebitda at 0,4 billion) by 2024.

“This strategic partnership with Google places Tim as a point of reference in Italy in cloud and edge computing, two markets that will be increasingly important with the progressive implementation of 5G and Artificial Intelligence – comments Tim's CEO, Luigi gubitosi – By choosing to join forces with a globally recognized technological and innovative leader, we confirm our commitment to promote and accompany the digital progress of the country”.

Thomas Kurian, number one of Google Cloud, says he is instead proud "of this partnership with Tim which will allow us to help customers in Italy accelerate their digital transformation".

Meanwhile, Tim confirm investments for innovation and the creation of new data centres. The development of new skills in the cloud environment also continues, also through assumptions it's a training plan which will involve 6 thousand employees.

Under the new agreements, the two companies will implement joint initiatives to help Italian companies, of all sizes and in all sectors, to exploit the advantages of cloud technologies more quickly. Public administration and government services are also included in the project.

To accelerate the development of new products for customers, engineers from Tim and Google Cloud will work closely together.

THE AGREEMENT WITH DISNEY

Tim has signed a multi-year deal with The Walt Disney Company Italy. The agreement provides that starting from March 24 Tim will distribute to its customers and exclusively for Italy Disney + through TimVision in combination with Tim broadband offers.

Gubitosi explained: "It is an agreement that fits into the strategy of alliances with major international players that Tim is pursuing in various sectors, to offer cutting-edge products and services."
