Tim raises prices: 28-day rates also on landline

The group has changed the terms of the contract with an increase for customers of 8,6% from April 1st. News also for Internet browsing on mobile phones from April 3rd. In both cases the right of withdrawal is foreseen. The precedents and the fines imposed by the Antitrust and Agcom on Vodafone, Wind and Tim itself

Telecom Italy increases prices by 8,6%. for the customers Landline Tim. From next April 1st, in fact, the invoices will no longer be monthly but will be progressively issued every 8 weeks. Furthermore, the consideration for subscriptions to offers and services will be calculated every 28 days and no longer monthly. The remodeling will increase the annual cost by 8,6% precisely.

Conversely, customers who still receive paper invoices and use postal payment slips will save up to 20 euros a year as they will no longer pay commission costs every 30 days but every 56 days.

Lastly, discounts are envisaged: Telecom specifies that the "Voice" offer and subscriptions with economic concessions on the telephone line ("Reduction greater than 50% of the monthly subscription amount to the telephone service" and "Social Card concession") will benefit from a reduction in the price of the relative season tickets in such a way as to guarantee the same cost.

Telecom therefore aligns itself a year later with what has already been launched by Vodafone and Wind-Infostrada. On the change of pricing from 1 month to 4 weeks towards mobile customers, theAntitrust against Vodafone while Agcom intervened last summer on similar decisions by Tim and Wind for mobile customers. Vodafone was issued a fine of 1 million for having adopted unfair commercial practices in the context of two maneuvers to reduce the renewal period of mobile and landline telephony offers from 30 to 28 days. In the case of Tim and Wind instead, the Agcom decided fines of 410.000 and 455.000 euros respectively. The motivations of the two Authorities did not differ much. Basically, the telephone operators were held responsible for aggressive commercial practices and for having limited, each in their own way, the right of withdrawal, especially when contracts were combined with installment sales of products (mobile phones, tablets, routers, etc.) in addition to the introduction of extra costs for early withdrawal.

So it's not starting from scratch. In the communication sent to its customers announcing the tariff change, Telecom has also introduced innovations on mobile: starting from 3 April, all extra-monthly data traffic will no longer benefit from the reduction in speed as has been the case up to now. Once the ceiling has been exceeded, in order to continue browsing, customers will have to activate another additional traffic option.

For both remodeling (residential and mobile) there is the possibility of withdrawing from contracts without penalties.

“Pursuant to art. 70, paragraph 4 of the Electronic Communications Code - specifies Tim's communication to customers - you have the right to withdraw from the Contract, or to switch to another operator, without costs, by giving written notice by 31 March 2017 to TIM, at the address indicated on the invoice and on the Charter of Services or by fax to the free number 800.000.187 specifying as subject: "modification of the contractual conditions". For this communication it is not obligatory to send it by registered letter with return receipt and in the case of sending by fax it is in any case necessary to attach a photocopy of the identity document of the customer holding the contract to be terminated".

"Should you decide to withdraw and the line affected by this modification proposal - continues Tim - is associated with a contract for the purchase by installments of a product in force or in the event that the installment payment of the activation fee is in progress, the remaining installments will be charged in a single solution or you can continue to keep the installment payment method active, notifying us in writing in the same notice of withdrawal.
