Tim: fiber optics in another 263 Municipalities in November

In November, Tim brought Fiber To The Cabinet (FTTC) fiber to 263 municipalitiesi, most of which are located in the so-called white areas, ie rural or low-density areas of the country.

A total of 3.250 Italian municipalities have been covered with Tim's Ubb networks in the last 9 months, while a total of 5.000 municipalities in which Tim's ultra-broadband services are available.

“The acceleration of cabling programs and the upgrading of the network that the company has implemented since the beginning of March has made it possible to achieve, in a limited time frame, a significant result for overcoming the digital divide, which Tim wants fill by 2021” the company announced in a note in which it also underlined the importance of accelerating digitization in a period like the current one in which, due to the pandemic, millions of people work in smart working and study remotely.

According to Tim's forecasts, by December Puglia will be the first Italian region to have ultra-broadband coverage close to almost the entire population. At the same time, national cabling continues to bring fiber to 90% of households using the fixed network by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the subsidiary Tim Brasil, in partnership with Telefonica Brasil (Vivo) and Claro, has been awarded the mobile business of the Brazilian operator Oì. Tim made it known in a note, explaining that the offer "was awarded the competitive sales process".

The total value of the transaction amounts to 16,5 billion reais (approximately 2,7 billion euro), to which must be added the consideration offered to the Oì group of approximately 819 million reais (134 million euro) as the net present value for Take-or-Pay Data Transmission Capacity Contracts. Tim Brasil will participate with an investment of approximately 7,3 billion reais (1,2 billion euros), to be paid at the closing, expected by 2021, plus 476 million reais relating to Tim Brasil's share in the net present value of the contracts .
