Tim, 2700 Municipalities connected by Fttc fiber in seven months

Tim advances with the optical fiber up to the street closet, the so-called Fttc. In just seven months, around 2.700 Italian municipalities have benefited from TIM's ultrabroadband coverage, informs a note from the group, to allow more and more families and businesses access to fast internet. Also in September, in fact, the company gave a strong boost to its cabling programs with FTTC technology, concentrated above all in the so-called "white areas" of the country, thanks to which the fiber optic network was extended to another 200 municipalities distributed throughout the national territory.

“Tim's commitment to overcome the digital divide in Italy by 2021 continues in this way, extending to all Italians the possibility of working and studying remotely, surfing at high speed and using TV and entertainment services. There are currently over 4.700 Italian municipalities in which TIM's ultra-broadband services are available for the benefit of citizens, businesses and public administrations”, specifies the national operator.

Tim also confirms its commitment to continue with the ultrabroadband plan and will continue to intensify its cabling programs in the coming months, bringing fiber to 90% of households using the fixed network nationwide by December, in order to give an answer in this way concrete to the growing requests for connectivity that mainly come from rural or low-density areas of the country. In particular, the municipalities that will be reached within the year will number over 5.000, many of which are in the "white areas" to enable around 75% of families residing in those areas and using the fixed network to digital life.

To ensure ultrabroadband connections in municipalities not yet reached by fiber optics, TIM also confirms its commitment thanks to the use of Fwa (Fixed Wireless Access) technology, which uses a hybrid system of wired and wireless connections to offer connectivity services in ultra broadband.
