Rc Auto: how prices change in different cities, in Italy and in Europe

The cost of motor liability insurance varies significantly depending on the city: in Italy the primacy belongs to Naples, where you pay 140,9% more than in Aosta - But even in Great Britain, Spain, Germany and France there are very significant: for the same policy, there is a difference of over a thousand euros between Liverpool and Monaco.

Rc Auto: how prices change in different cities, in Italy and in Europe

Tell me where you live and I'll tell you how much you pay rc car. It is not only the type of vehicle and the history of the owner that determine the price of the insurance, but also (and above all) the city of residence: a factor often underestimated, which nevertheless produces very significant differences, in Italy as in Europe.

A Napoli, for example, the policies cost on average 140,9% more than the virtuosa Aosta (766 against 318 euros). Decisive in raising tariffs in Naples is the phenomenon of fraud which has led many companies to evaluate the opportunity to abandon the field in the Campania capital.

After Naples, according to IVASS data for 2014, the Italian cities where motor liability insurance is more expensive are Reggio Calabria (640 euros) e Florence (560 euros), while Roma it ranks fifth with 549 euros. The lowest cost centers after Aosta, on the other hand, are Campobasso (352 euros) e Trento (366 euro).

This difference between cities is particularly marked in our country, which continues to lead the European classification for motor liability prices. And yet, the deviations at the territorial level are by no means an Italian prerogative.

According to an Ania elaboration on a series of motor liability estimates, even in the main European countries, prices rise and fall significantly depending on the city. The analysis refers to a specific profile (a 35-year-old woman who owns a Ford Fiesta 1.600 diesel registered in 2014) and is divided into 24 estimates for England, 7 for Spain, 10 for Germany and 9 for France.

The results say that a Liverpool they pay an average of 1.201 euros, or more than double the 553 euros of Southampton (+117%), which in turn saves 33% compared to the 737 euros of Newcastle.

Even in Spain there is a chasm (+94%) between the prices of the most expensive city, ie Bilbao, with 458 euros, and those of the cheapest, which is a surprise Madrid, where the reference policy does not cost more than 235 euros on average. It is placed in the middle Seville with its 321 euros, 36% more than in the Spanish capital.

The distances between the prices of the different cities are reduced in Germany and France, but still remain significant. In the first economy of the Eurozone the gold medal goes to Hamburg, with only 233 euros: a price apparently already very low, but which is still 73% higher than the 135 euros of Neubrandenburg, where you can find the cheapest German policy. In the median position are the 198 euros of Monaco.

As for France, the most expensive motor liability insurance is paid a Marseille: 562 euros, i.e. 42% more than in the cheapest city, that is Nantes, with 395 euros. In this case, it's in the middle of the table Rouen, with 448 euros.

The data from the Ania survey, as mentioned, refer to a specific profile, therefore they are not weighted averages of what is actually paid in the individual cities. The comparison with the 2014 Ivass data is therefore not technically correct, but still serves to have an order of magnitude: according to the Insurance Supervisory Institute, last year the average price of motor liability policies in Italy was 475 euros
